In deze masterclass word je uitgedaagd om met een brede blik naar je werk te kijken en te experimenteren met je archief of onvoltooide reeks. Je onderzoekt verschillende verhaallijnen, perspectieven en mogelijkheden om jouw persoonlijk verhaal te vertellen op een manier dat het ook anderen aanspreekt of raakt. Tine Guns en mentormentor ondersteunen je in dit proces. Verdiep je vijf volle dagen in je eigen werk en deel je ervaringen met andere fotografen.

Tine Guns (1983, BE) verdiept zich in de mogelijkheden van het fotoboek als ruimtelijke en tijdelijke ervaring, geïnspireerd door filmische montage. Haar boeken zijn architectonische, meervoudige ruimtes, waarin de fysieke bladervaring en het visuele narratief onlosmakelijk verbonden zijn, en waarin thema’s als voyeurisme, suspense en de subjectiviteit van tijd en ruimte centraal staan.

In 2022 rondde ze haar doctoraat af aan LUCA, getiteld The Photobook as a Visual Page-Turner: A pre- and post-cinematographic montage story, en nam ze deel aan het onderzoeksproject Bioscopic Books: Artist’s books as seen through the cinema eye. Ze stelde tentoon bij Cinematek/BOZAR Brussel, Netwerk Aalst en Casino Luxembourg. Haar foto’s werden geselecteerd voor Voies Off in Arles en Antwerp Photo, en haar films werden vertoond op festivals zoals het Jean Rouch Festival in Parijs en Ostrale in Dresden.

In this masterclass, you will be challenged to look at your work from a broader perspective and experiment with your archive or unfinished series. You will explore different narratives, perspectives and possibilities to tell your personal story in a way that it also appeals to and touches others.
Tine Guns and mentormentor will support you in this process. For five full days, you immerse yourself in your own work and share your experiences with other photographers.

Tine Guns (1983, BE) delves into the possibilities of the photobook as a spatial and temporal experience, inspired by cinematic montage. Her books are architectural, multi-layered spaces in which the physical experience of turning pages and the visual narrative are inseparably intertwined, and where themes such as voyeurism, suspense, and the subjectivity of time and space take center stage. In 2022 she finished her PhD at LUCA, entitled The Photobook as a Visual Page-Turner: A pre- and post-cinematographic montage story, and participated in the research project Bioscopic Books: Artist’s books as seen through the cinema eye.
