5-DAY
MASTERCLASS .
MATHIEU ASSELIN
25 - 29 AUG 2025, BLANCO GHENT
This masterclass functions as a think tank in which we critically and constructively reflect on our own work and that of established photographers and documentary makers. We examine how aesthetics, research, and ethics play a role in documentary practices, with particular attention to the question of whom we point the camera at—and why.
Mathieu Asselin (1973, Aix-en-Provence FR) is known for his conceptual approach to documentary photography, combining in-depth research with visual tools to tell complex stories. His work focuses on power structures, greenwashing, and social injustice. Asselin is a social activist who critically examines his own position as a creator. His photography is not an objective representation of the truth, but rather a personal, transparent, and fact-based interpretation that invites reflection and dialogue.
You can apply until June 25th. Payment can be made in instalments and there is a discount for self-employed photographers, students and recently graduated photographers.
