In deze masterclass kan je je vijf dagen lang verdiepen in je werk. Samen met Ruth Van Beek onderzoek je hoe het zich verder kan ontwikkelen, zowel inhoudelijk als visueel. Je schuwt daarbij het experiment niet en kijkt met een brede blik naar je archief of een onvoltooide reeks.

Ruth Van Beek (1977, Zaandam NL) spreekt ons collectief geheugen aan door een archief van oud formeel beeldmateriaal tegenover eigen creaties te plaatsen. Het vertrouwde tegenover het abstracte, het dode tegenover het levende. De verzameling krijgt zijn ware betekenis wanneer ze in boekvorm verschijnt. Het is daar, in de spanning tussen wat verborgen wordt en repetitief getoond, dat je als kijker met het werk resoneert en tot ontroering wordt gebracht.

De deadline om aan te melden is 20 juni. Betalen kan in schijven en er is korting voor zelfstandigen, studenten en recent afgestudeerde fotografen.

5-DAY MASTERCLASS RUTH VAN BEEK

26 - 30 AUG 2024, BLANCO GHENT, BELGIUM

In this masterclass you can delve deeper into your work for five days. Together with Ruth Van Beek, you will explore how it can develop further, both in terms of content and visually. You don't shy away from experimentation and take a broad look at your archive or an unfinished series.

Ruth Van Beek (1977, Zaandam NL) appeals to our collective memory by juxtaposing an archive of old formal imagery with her own creations. The familiar versus the abstract, the dead versus the living. The collection takes on its true meaning when it appears in book form. It is there, in the tension between what is hidden and repetitively shown, that as a viewer you resonate with the work and are moved to emotion.

You can apply until June 20th. Payment can be made in instalments and there is a discount for self-employed photographers, students and recently graduated photographers.
